We had the pleasure of embarking on a journey to the charming town of Bilene in Mozambique for the perfect long weekend getaway!
Travelling with 4 couples, we hit a few bumps in the road with a longer than expected 14-hour journey due to delays at the Limbobo Border Post and difficulties finding our accommodation house. However, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits as we headed straight to the lagoon on Friday morning for a day of thrilling water activities.
While at the lagoon, we stumbled upon Elizabeth Cossa, a local fisherman who welcomed us to her market stall for a taste of the freshest seafood. The evening was an unforgettable feast of local cuisine, featuring fresh fish, crabs, chips, and salads. Our couples couldn’t stop raving about it!
On Saturday, we took a ferry to Ngungwa Lodge on a different island, where the couples enjoyed lunch and some well-deserved relaxation by the pool. Sunday was a more relaxed day, where we took a drive around Bilene with our friendly host Santiago, who showed us the town’s hidden gems.
Our journey back on Monday was a bit longer than expected, with two accidents and road construction, making it a 17-hour drive. But even during the long drive, the couples couldn’t stop talking about the incredible experiences they had during the trip and were already looking forward to the next adventure.
Bilene is the perfect destination for anyone seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, with loads of water activities and breathtaking scenery. We highly recommend this picturesque town for your next vacation. Don’t miss out on the fun!
